Two killed in apparent murder-suicide at South Bay home
GILROY A man shot and killed a family member before fatally shooting himself Sunday in unincorporated Gilroy according to officials Related Articles Saratoga resident loses over million in cryptocurrency scam Four persons of interest arrested fifth sought in San Jose shooting Judge reaffirms orders pretrial release of defendants ahead of Sunnyvale murder trial Man infamous for South Bay jail escape gets significantly reduced prison term after appeal illicit South Bay massage parlors shut down The episode happened just before p m Sunday at a residence on Sheldon Avenue Santa Clara County Sheriff s Office spokesperson Brooks Jarosz reported in a news release When deputies arrived at the scene bystanders notified them a family member had shot a -year-old man and then barricaded himself inside the garage according to Jarosz Deputies entered the home and discovered the victim had been fatally shot Jarosz announced Nearby homes were evacuated as deputies tried to reach the suspect according to Jarosz Over the unit of more than eight hours numerous announcements and phone calls were made in the hopes of persuading the suspect to surrender Jarosz declared in the release Deputies used a drone to find the suspect inside the garage with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to Jarosz The Santa Clara County Anatomical Examiner-Coroner s Office will release the identities of the victim and the suspect after they are certified and their next of kin is notified Detectives with the sheriff s office s Investigative Services Division have taken over the crime scene Jarosz explained adding that this study remains evolving and ongoing Check back for updates
