Suspect arrested in stabbing of Gilroy grocery store worker
GILROY One man is behind bars and another is in stable condition following a stabbing at a grocery store in Gilroy police noted Related Articles Nine arrested in San Jose gang-motivated crime sting Judge denies motion to exclude term genocide from Stanford felony vandalism trial Man arrested for crashing car into parked cars after trying to set fire to Saratoga winery Suspect arrested in Los Gatos following burglary Santa Cruz County woman pleads guilty to abandoning newborn in The occurrence happened Tuesday at the Safeway in the block of First Street the Gilroy Police Department reported in a news release An assessment revealed the suspect identified as -year-old Derek Bell walked into an employee-only area and was urged to leave Police commented Bell instead threw an object at an employee A second employee identified as a -year-old man approached Bell and advised him to leave That s when Bell pulled out a knife and stabbed the employee police stated The employee was rushed to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition police stated Bell left the supermarket after the stabbing but officers speedily identified him police commented He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into Santa Clara County jail Bell is being held without bail at the Main Jail in San Jose according to jail records He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday Check back for updates
