Pittsburg considers Brentwood official for city manager position

PITTSBURG Brentwood Assistant City Manager Darin Gale is likely to be selected as Pittsburg s next city manager when the council takes up the matter next week Gale who has had the assistant role with Brentwood since took over as the city s interim city manager following the departure of Tim Ogden in April Last month Brentwood appointed G Harold Duffey to take over the position permanently The Pittsburg City Council is expected to consider Gale for the city manager position at its next meeting on Nov commented Mayor Jelani Killings If approved he would start on Dec Following the retirement of City Manager Garrett Evans in September Pittsburg hired Peckham McKenney an executive search firm to help with the recruitment process to replace him Killings stated the city is excited about the anticipated selection of Gale His extensive experience in executive leadership economic growth neighborhood partnerships and municipal operations will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow and position our city for long-term success mentioned Killings in a message on Nov We re confident he will make a positive impact and we look forward to welcoming him to Club Pittsburg Armed with a master s degree in business administration from Drexel University and a bachelor s degree in economics from Sacramento State University Gale disclosed he is grateful for the opportunity to serve Pittsburg is a city with a rich history and an exciting future ahead announced Gale adding he looks forward to working with the City Council district city staff and businesses Together we will strengthen the local financial sector enhance inhabitants services and continue making Pittsburg a place where families and businesses can thrive announced Gale I m excited to get started and honored to join a locality that values collaboration innovation and opportunity for all Before moving to Brentwood Gale was a senior enhancement project manager with the city of Sacramento where he oversaw a federally funded small business loan plan and established an economic incentive scheme to attract businesses He also spent a decade in Yuba City in various roles including as deputy city manager
