Broncos injury report: Mike McGlinchey (shoulder) questionable vs. Packers
The Broncos could be without a key member of their offensive line Sunday against Green Bay Right tackle Mike McGlinchey didn t practice Friday because of a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable for a showdown with edge rushers Micah Parsons Rashan Gary and the rest of the Packers disruptive defensive front McGlinchey was a full participant the first two days of the practice week so the shoulder issue cropped up late in Denver s preparations Regardless of McGlinchey s status the Broncos will have their hands full with Parsons and company because of the way Green Bay moves Parsons around snap to snap There s not really a tendency with Parsons McGlinchey recounted The Post on Friday It s kind of random and it s just one of those things where all five guys have to be on it When you call the help to him whether he s inside or outside all of a sudden it s like an accordion It s got to go down the line and people have to be aware of where he is Be aware of what s happening and what the call is And then just go fight Opportunities to play guys like him are rare and it s a cool one It s a really cool opportunity we have to play against elite players We ve done it a couple times this year and certainly he s no exception It s going to be a full group effort to get it done and I m confident we re going to get ready for it Whether McGlinchey ends up part of that plan though remains to be seen Denver s primary back-up right tackle is Alex Palczewski but he s been starting at left guard for several weeks in place of Ben Powers bicep Powers returned to practice this week for the first time since tearing his left bicep in early October and is moving toward being ready to play but he s been ruled out of Sunday s challenge Payton on Friday reported Powers isn t ready yet but he s getting there With Palczewski at left guard second-year man Frank Crum has been the next option up at right tackle Bryant out The Broncos event Sunday against Green Bay is a big one but it s not a postseason tournament If it were Payton stated Friday rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant would likely be playing through a hamstring injury Or as Denver s head coach described it a hamstring-adjacent injury It s hard to describe it s attached to the hamstring Payton revealed If this was a playoff competition he d be able to go And yet in order to get him back to full strength we feel like we ve done the right thing this week It s been an engaging stretch for Denver s third-round receiver He was listed as a limited participant in Thursday and Friday s practice last week because of a hamstring injury but was cleared to play against Las Vegas He did logging snaps second-most among Denver receivers and catching four passes for yards Bryant though didn t participate in any of Denver s practices this week and will not play Sunday against the Packers The Broncos then will be without a trusted blocker who has seen his role continue to increase as the season s progressed Bryant also has catches for yards and a touchdown The Broncos could ride with their current set of receivers Courtland Sutton Troy Franklin Marvin Mims Jr and Lil Jordan Humphrey but they could also elevate any of a bevy of practice squad receivers including veteran Elijah Moore Lewis clears waivers Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis cleared waivers Friday He is expected a source explained The Post to sign back to Denver s practice squad Saturday Related Articles Broncos top-ranked third-down defense faces big challenge in prolific Packers Broncos waive TE Marcedes Lewis plan to re-sign him to practice squad The Mad Fanatic cultivated a following rapping about the Broncos and built Bronco Gang along the way Broncos alert season-ticket holders about possibility of home playoff tickets Sean Payton says Broncos are counting on our crowd at Empower Field vs Packers We had a pretty clear understanding that we needed him with Nate Adkins down Payton commented of the -year-old Lewis We created the roster spot and we knew we needed to have him back It was more of just managing the roster That roster management likely looks like this Denver can promote inside linebacker Jordan Turner a key special teams athlete who is out of practice squad elevations to the -man roster Saturday and then sign Lewis to the vacated practice squad spot Adkins knee is cleared to play after missing five games and defensive tackle D J Jones ankle is back after a one-game absence Want more Broncos news Sign up for the Broncos Insider to get all our NFL analysis
