BART commute struggles continue; Red Line and Green Line closed

Another work day brought yet more transportation challenges for BART riders on Monday as another equipment complication forced the closure of two of its advance lines Related Articles BART operation restored after vandalism stops trains between East and South bay stations Unstable individual who barricaded self at BART train yard in Hayward arrested Man hit by BART train in Oakland remains hospitalized Delays hamper BART riders after maintenance and police activity Bike pedestrian improvements celebrated at North Berkeley BART Station BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth mentioned the latest troubles came from an equipment complication on the tracks near the West Oakland station As a development the Red Line and Green Line were closed The Green Line runs between the Berryessa North San Jose and Daly City stations and the Red Line runs from Richmond to Millbrae BART advised riders who normally use the Green Line from San Francisco to board a Dublin Pleasanton train and transfer at the Bayfair station to a Berryessa North San Jose train Those traveling from the Berryessa North Berryessa station were advised to board a Richmond-bound train and transfer to a Daly City-bound train at the Bayfair station Red Line riders were informed to take a shuttle between the San Francisco International Airport station and Millbrae station where they can transfer to a Yellow Line train that runs to Antioch Richmond riders traveling to Millbrae were explained to take the Orange Line toward Berryessa North San Jose and then transfer to MacArthur Station to a Yellow Line train BART had no estimate for when it s lines would be open The predicament was just the latest in the ongoing provision issues BART has had since May Just last month BART endured two straight Mondays in which issues interrupted the commute A week before that the agency had to shut down one of its lines and suspend provision on the other In September and in May the agency had system-wide shutdowns In addition BART had to close its Red Line from Richmond to Millbrae on Aug the first day that it started it s new Tap and Ride system BART closed its Yellow Line in eastern and central Contra Costa County on July because of an electrical outage And fires near the tracks between the Daly City and Balboa Park stations and near the San Leandro station stopped trains operation on consecutive days in May
